Hays High 15th Annual Goodchuck Invitational

2019 — Hays, KS/US

Dear Coach,

On behalf of the Hays High School Forensics team, we would like to invite you to the annual Gary Goodchuck Forensics Invitational on Saturday February 23, 2019. We will also hold a workshop on Friday 2/22 for LD, PDF and Congressional debate styles.

We will offer competition in the following 12 events: Extemporaneous, Original Oratory, Informative, Inform 10, Dramatic Interpretation/SSA, Humorous Interpretation/HSA, Prose, Poetry, Duet Acting/DUO, IDA, POI and Impromptu. A school may enter up to 25 entries. Students will be allowed to compete in as many as three events if they can manage their time in the allotted times for rounds. This means if students want to triple enter the tournament they may, but we will not hold round times for them to compete. The only exception is for draw events. Students may only enter one 30-min prep draw event. We will allow off-line electronic retrieval in extemp prep.

There will be three preliminary rounds Starting at 8:00, 9:30 and 11 followed by finals as close to 1:30 as possible. Results will be cumulative. Medals will be awarded to all finalists and we will award sweepstakes plaques to the top 3 schools based on their top 12 entries from preliminary rounds. There will be an awards ceremony.

All draw events will be timed each round. Timers will be present upon availability in all other event finals. The judging pool will consist of recent high school graduates. All other KSHSAA guidelines will be followed, including tabbing points. Tournament administrators reserve the right to settle any/all issues.

A hospitality room will be available for judges, coaches, and drivers in room. Concessions will be available for students in the Commons/Cafeteria, and serve as a fund raiser. Baked goods and a $5 meal deal will be available.

Please submit entries and changes as soon as possible.

Hope to see you all soon!

Sincerely,

Codi Fenwick
